Psychosocial support conditions in the orphanage: case study of Wolisso project

Abstract This study was conducted to assess the psychosocial and material services provision of Wolisso Kalehiwot Church project/center. Qualitative research design employing phenomenological approach as reach on identifying strengths challenges practiced in center. Purposive sampling techniques used draw ten respondents from center (8 orphans, 2 staff) respond interview questions. The result this indicated that effort made by project is so effective addressing immediate need orphans including survival wellbeing these children. Consequently, weakness observed initial recruitment problem unskilled staffs involving inability be proactive for sustainability request were seen major. faced identified characteristics staff handle growing needs emotional instability children, limited access social integration, negative attitude community towards institutionalization segregation critical. Hence, institutional capacity building both external internal funders maintain projects with clear goal policy direction mandatory.
